709 Roller Derby is Newfoundland and Labrador's first roller derby league. 709 Roller Derby is a not-for-profit organization that offers a new and exciting sport to the St. John's area. We strive to promote active and healthy lifestyles.

The league was established by two local women in December, 2009. The first official practice date for 709 Roller Derby was January 13, 2010.

Today, our league has 2 regular home teams, and practices run year-round with a competitive bouting season from April to the end of August. Our organization is governed by a board of 5 league-elected members, with a number of volunteer committees who make training, event operations, finances, and sponsorships happen. We have regular visitors from other leagues and occasionally travel for tournaments, or host open games here.
