Get to know the League

709 Roller Derby is always looking for new volunteers and officials! There are a lot of people who work together to run our league, practices, bouts and community involvement initiatives. Volunteering your time with 709 Roller Derby is a great way to get to know the game and the league can be a lot of fun.

If you want to become a referee (skating official), we can get you signed up in our Learn to Skate program where you'll get the basics of skating on quads, and get intimately familiar with the rules. We treat our zebras like gold and we always need eyes on the track, so send us a message!

What can I do?

Volunteers are welcome to help with games, community events, or general league operations. We can always use an extra hand at games; it can be anything from bout announcers, to bench managers, anthem-singers, and ticket-takers.

We also have a number of officials who ensure the game flows properly. Non-skating officials are volunteers trained to to play specific roles during a bout, like penalty timing, jam timing, and score-keeping.
